I have a Pioneer DVR 106D, and I am using Nero Ultra. I tried making a DVD Data disc and it says that there has been an internal target failure. There's no problem witht he media as I've switched DVD-R blank media. Can someone please help? Has my Pioneer 106D bit the dust? Does anyone know if there is a diagonistic tool I could d/ll?

Could either be bad media or the drive is beginning to go bad. I'm not sure of any program to test the drive. Try cleaning the 106. Also try a slower speed and maybe different media just to see.

Hi I have this problem at the moment. Drive is a Pioneer 106 with 1.07 firmware. Nero is 6.3.0.3. If I try to burn at 1x I get "internal target failure" at any higher speed I get "power calibration failed"
The power calibration error occurs on Ulead DVD slide show too.
I have tested all the connections and redone the power supply so it only feeds my 2 DVD drives, I have tried different media and cleaned the laser.
Any other ideas before I bin the drive?
NB it seems ok at burning CD-R.
