using ffmpegx on a MAC? to use popcorn to burn? or use toast to burn? I encoded an AVI to DVD this morning and nothing on my computer will recognize it as a movie folder. Not sure what i did wrong but i figured it had to be the target format.

The format for DVD is covered in What is DVD - top left corner.

Are you outputting a full DVD structure (Video_TS folder, ifo, bup and vob files) or a DVD compliant mpeg file ?

Since you are a Mac user, this thread would probably get more views in our Mac Forum. Moving you.

We also have a ffmpegx Forum.

And what guns1inger said still applies.

    And welcome to our forums.

Follow these steps, skip the part on subtitles.
