    hi!

    i recorded some stuff from vhs to my mac and i would like to improve the image quality before i burn it to dvd. any suggestions how i could do that the best and easiest way? using final cut express hd, but don't know it much yet. maybe you even have some other software/plug-in advices.

    You may get some suggestions, but instead of getting another piece of software or hardware, spending money on that, instlaling it and learning it; just take some time to read about the app you already have and use that.. FCPHD Express should be able to adjust the colors, clamp the highs/lows, sharpen, blur, and unsharp mask. Using those tools should get you closer to where you want to be. Remember, VHS is recorded at around 200 lines and you are using it in DV at about 720 lines. that's like taking a thumbnail of a photo and trying to print it at 4x6. It will always look like crud....
