I've recently downloaded MSU Deblocking Filter v. 2.1 (freeware) for VirtualDub. Although it seems to be an amazing filter, it's crashing all versions of VirtualDub here. My OS is Windows XP. Any ideas? Any tips? If any of you have a link to download the previous version 2.0, please let me know. There may be a problem with the new version.
    Thanks in advance.

  2. I recently had a file that was an odd number of scanlines tall (something like 352x221) -- it caused VirtualDub to crash when using the MSU deblocking filter. I got around the problem it by using the resize filter (I kept the video the same size with the nearest neighbor option, and used "Expand frame and letterbox" to add one scanline) to increase the height to an even value (352x222).

Thanks, junkmalle. Although the video here is 720x480, I'll check it out. I'll reply as soon as possible.

  4. You didn't "upgrade" to SP2 in XP, did you? Please tell me you didn't "upgrade" to SP2. Half of my friends who do video work have had codecs mysteriously stop working and otherwise bulletproof video software crash and burn when they "upgraded" to SP2...

    http://www.crn.com/sections/breakingnews/breakingnews.jhtml;?articleId=23905071

"CRN Test Center engineers evaluated a release candidate two (RC2) version of SP2, and upon completion of the install on three out of five systems, the machines blue-screened."

"[Microsoft] provided instructions on how to work around the blue screen
and uninstall SP2. After that process finished, some interesting events
occurred. The rollback process uninstalled every device that existed in
the PC. Network cards, video cards and all system resources were
uninstalled. The rollback also removed SP1; absolutely no remnants of SP1 existed anywhere in the system. "

I refused to "upgrade" to Win XP. Still using Win 2K SP2. Never a problem.

    - No Sir, no upgrades here. My Windows XP is still the old and good SP1 - lol.
I've just found out some other people with the same problem:
    https://www.videohelp.com/forum/archive/t256732.html
This filter doesn't work at all (at least for me). I've tried everything. Hope its author is fixing this problem (hello Russia!)
-Are there other options for deblocking with VD?
    Thanks in advance

  6. I use MSU Deblocking 2.1 all the time with 720x480 and 720x576 sources. I use XP SP2 too! 2.0 had lots of problems. You might try looking for an older version (1.x) -- it was slower though.

    Hi there!
I use MSU Deblocking 2.1 all the time with 720x480 and 720x576 sources. I use XP SP2 too!
But my OS is SP1. I guess this is one of those mysteries that often happens with computers...and no one knows why....
Did you check out the link above? Don't know if those ones complaining overthere were using the newest version, though.
You might try looking for an older version (1.x)
-I've already tried Google. I've found nothing. Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

Yup. It has happened to me as well. MSU deblocker 2.1 and 2.0. I have the earlier versions as well. They are stable, but slowwwwwww.

So, does anyone know where I can download the earlier versions? Maybe someone can e-mail me and attatch the file which is rather small (and freeware). Thanks in advance.
