  1. Quick question if there are any viruses that target dimms and their memory sticks? I had 2x515 corsair cmx512-3200c2pt on dimm 2&3 then next morning my computer would just beep on booting. After switching to just 1 stick in bank 1 only, computer booted no problem. The mobo is k7n2 delta ilsr.
Is there a progam to test Dimms without the memory in them?

  2. Ram is volitile so a virus will not target this area.

I don't know of any program to test the dimm socket but there are programs to test the actual mem modules- mem test is one (forget the link)
    and Microsoft offers one.

You overclocking? Up the ram timeings?

The RAM module may of just died. I assume you have tried each stick independently to confirm that one is definitely dead?

If so, that type of memory should be guaranteed and you should be able to exchange it.

For testing memory, try http://www.memtest86.com/. It won't tell you anything about the dead one, but you can test the remaining stick.

  4. Oh..dang!! I tested the other stick( ) and its the one for all the probs. Now I guess I have to RMA this thing. There is a first time for everything I guess. I'll go to their site to learn how to do that. I have no back up memory while this happens. How long do these things usually take?
I ran this memory at stock 400 and set it 1 to 1 with cpu. Had it up to 412 about 3 weeks ago for a few hours but that was it for overclocking.
When I return this thing will there be any personal computer info stored on it? Me thinks not but I ask anyways.

P.S. I need to upgade dvd burner from pioneer106 to /???? Any thoughts. Thinking about PLEXTOR PX-712SA INTERNAL SERIAL ATA 12X DVD+R - BLACK .
