hi, i recently converted two hd films no problem from .ts (vc-1) files to .divx / .avi

But now all of a sudden when i tried converted some more, i play the file on my pc to test it out, and theres audio / video sync problems, the audio always seems to be going faster and the video dosnt seem to be playing correctly sometimes i.e. going at a faster framerate then looks normal (speeded up a notch).

i've been using command, to join the .ts files into one file,
then using tsremux to strip out unwanted audio streams etc

I then play the stripped 1 big ts file and it still plays fine, all in sync etc.

then i load it into vdub, using .avs file for it which just has the film source .ts inside it.
i do a fast recompress to divx6 and use a cbr mp3 for the audio at 320

but when the .avi file is done its totally screwing up when played, this is the same process i used to convert the first 2 films and the're specs are near enough the same and they worked.

Also tried converting it with divx convertor now they got the new 1080 profile in it, but its freezing around the 1 hour mark and not converting the rest, and yes the films out of sync before that 1 hour mark.

So i hav'nt got a clue whats causing the problem, because i dont think im doing anything different from last time when it worked.

any help would be great, thanks

Does the ts file play correctly?
Are you using directshowsource in the avisynth script? Maybe some decoder that have changed recently.

I'm afraid the problem you're going through resides
in the VC-1 encoding itself I have dealed with some
WM video streams whose respective framecounts do vary,
depending on the software used to open them (Gspot, MediaInfo,
Media Player Classic, VirtualDub, Avisynth) , and I presume
this is the cause of the lack of aud-vid sync after re-encoding.
I have not yet found a solution to this type of headache

yes the ts files play fine in windows media player, the avs file contains this only: -

    DirectShowSource("film.ts")

    Try DirectShowSource("film.ts", fps=nn.mmm, convertfps=true) ---

--- BUT even this does not guarantee you will get rid of the sync problem.

tried it out and its encoded the film correctly, at last the film plays in sync, thanks to the added avs script options.

Now to test it out on the other buggy film that didnt work before.

Apparently my sync problems are being caused by the damn~fukking
ASF container , but only today I managed to learn the method to demux
Windows Media files and remux them into MKV by using GraphEdit && AVI-Mux GUI ^_^
Hope this time evrything will work out right

Glad to hear you solved your troubles
As for mine, I have not found a solution The cause of my sync problems
is not the stupid ASF container, but the stupid Windows Media Audio
format. It seems that it simply goes out-of-sync whenever it "wants"
to go out-of-sync, even if it is a CBR stream
Lesson of the day: WMV3 is good, VC-1 is very good, ASF sucks,
    WMA is garbage.
