I am using Vista 64, the software I usually use are ConvertXtoDVD and / or WinAvi for Avi to DVD.

I have never had troubles before the last week or so, now all of a sudden I am. The problems are -
if the avi is widescreen or full screen, after it is converted it is letterbox and the audio is so loud it is distorted.

I have uninstalled both softwares and reinstalled to no avail. Uninstalled K-Lite Mega Codec and installed the newest version, no go.

    Any help would be appreciated

K-lite never uninstalled cleanly in the past, unless they fixed that. And it usually left a lot of damage behind. You may have to clean up the registry to remove it all, and delete any codecs or parts it may have left. It generally creates more problems than it solves.

Another possibility is WinAVI or ConvertX DL'd some updates that conflicted with K-lite or each other. You might try a system restore to a date before the problems.

Thanks for the reply, WinAvi hasn't been updated, ConvertX has had a few though, I forgot to mention that Nero Vision does the same job without any problems, I just prefer not to use it as it is much slower

Letterboxed and loud audio on your standalone dvd player also? Because if you just have tested on your computer it could be a video player problem.

I tried a couple different dvd players on the pc, same thing. So I uninstalled Convertx then cleaned the reg and used winavi, no different. Uninstalled winavi and installed the latest Convertx and again the same thing, this is really puzzling me now lol
