  1. Hi all.

I've been using RealProducer for about two years now. We purchased a Canopus ADVC-110 for capturing live video streams via RealProducer 10 or Helix 9 to a Dell 8600 laptop's firewire input. WinXP SP2. THe laptop is stellar - 7200rpm HD, 2.0ghz Pentium M, 1gb ram, ATI 9600 pro, UXGA+ screen. We also have an Maudio MobilePre USB installed for various audio input needs, etc.

Since the laptop only has mini-firewire, I'm using the Canopus' front panel mini-DV I/O connector and a power adapter.

    1) Using the Canopus for analog video input only (then DV I/O to the laptop), and the USB preamp for audio. All looks great, and all frames captured, but the video is behind the audio by a very significant amount - almost a second.

    2) Passing the audio through the preamp, but rather than using the USB audio driver in RealProducer, we pass through the preamp's line audio output, and go into Canopus' audio along with the video (then both audio and video are from the DV driver in RealProducer). What happens here is every few seconds or so, either the video OR the audio is trying to catch up with the other. Video generally just skips frames (tons of them). Audio will speed itself up.

    3) Without the preamp hooked up, fresh boot, we pass a single audio and video connection through the Canopus device. The same problem shown in #2 occurs!! WTF!?

    4) ALL scenarios above, except for #1, work PERFECT when capturing in Premiere. All scenarios are also repeated when I hooked it up to my smoking home desktop (3.4ghz P4, 1gb 400mhz, raid HD's, etc.), except in the case of #1, I have my pro audio sound card (Echo Mia) and #1 works fine using that instead of the audio preamp. But #2, and #3's problems still happen.

Anyone have an explanation? Better yet, what can I do to fix this?
