Ok, i solved my problem of getting my movie to play on my standalone player by encoding with the new Nero Vision Express as i have a friend over the Internet who uses this to great effect. But now i have another issue of the movie continuously jumping. I have read on other posts that this is due to poor media. At the moment I'm using RiDisc Extreme Reds, which according to the manufacturers description are supposed to be an improved disc, due to them implementing thier new G05 dye technology.... yeah yeah , blah blah ... their technology doesn't seem to be working very well on my movies *LOL*
So, bearing in mind that i'm a UK resident... what type of disc would you recommend. I'm looking for the best ones only please... ones that perform consistently well. So that, if this does not solve the problem... would i be right in thinking it must be my dvd writer, even though it's done less than 10 burns and is made by Sony?
Is there any other possible causes of this problem... does the hard disc effect anything? (although it seems to be working fine) When i encode, i run nothing else on my computer... i also do the same for burning.. so it's not excess memory usage. i have 512ddr ram, 2.6gig CPU. Don't worry i plan to update my profile for this comp. Anyway, before i write a book... thanks for your help in advance guys... much appreciated. As with anything, i guess it's just a case of perseverance prevails.

Possible causes:
1.Adhesive labelsO NOT use them.
2.Bad burn:update your writer and burn software.
3.Bad media:try Taiyo Yuden,Maxell or MCC.
4.Your DVD player:either overheating or worn out. -

1. I don't use lables
2. Have latest version of Nero Vision Express Doenloaded today. (This programme works fine, as i know people who use it with no problems.
3. I'll try "Genuine" Taiyo Yuden Discs.
4. My dvd player, has hardly been used to... and i recieve no other problems with it other than my burns.... even copied dvds from other people play ok.
If the new discs don't solve the problem, i think i'll get a pioneer dvd writer... as i heard they're good? -
First download Nero InfoTool and make sure DMA is enabled on all drives, then check the firmware version of your Sony and go to www.rpc1.org to update.
If it is up to date then most likely the problem is the media.
