Here goes, don't laugh. Don't yell.
What exactly is the difference between:
4:3 525-line NTSC and
4:3 Display ???
16:9 525-line NTSC and
16:9 Display ???
Are the formats treated differently?
For instance, is one better for a video capture of NTSC? Is the other better for DVD's? What exactly is the difference?
I've been making most of mine using 525-line NTSC formats, 4:3 for any resolution capping TV, and 16:9 for DVD's. Just dotting I's and crossing T's, and I notice a lot of other people asking about this. Maybe we can figure it out once and for all!
Thanks!

Shocan tries to explain this a little bit on the following link:-

...hmmm...
I read it, and it doesn't really answer my question, but thanks for the effort...
What brought this on is I'd always chosen the NTSC "525-line" modes for DVD sources, whether 4:3 or 16:9 input, making them all 4:3 display output for a TV. I also chose 4:3 and 16:9 display as input types, and so long as the size is the same, it didn't seem to matter! So long as the source was 16:9, it didn't matter if I chose "NTSC 525-line", or "Display".
Just hoping to see if maybe there WAS a difference, even a subtle one...
