    Hello,

I am running into a problem with my "Older" version of TMPGEnc DVD Source Creator.

My audio on the original Divx Files are MP3.

When I try to convert a Divx(AVI) File to M2V and Wav using my old version, the picture looks GREAT! Very happy with it. The kick is that the audio file always comes out blank.

So what I have to do then is author a DVD on the desktop using Nero 7.. (The picture is inferior to the TMPGEnc version in Nero's "Best Quality" settings)..then demux the audio and video.. then author the DVD in TMPGE DVD Author 1.6 using the M2V from the Source Creator, and then the audio stream from the Nero produced DVD.

Does the current version "correct" this problem, and will I actually get my audio by just using the one program?

Thanks and do let me know if this program has the same "Problem" as the old version.
I want this corrected if I am gonna pay $40 for it.

    Peter (Plarocks)

P.S. Please note that I do NOT want to replace all of the DVD players in my house just to play a handful of Divx videos. Personally, I do not like how the compression looks. A regular DVD-R made in my Pioneer recorder looks superior. However, this is the only way I can obtain episodes of "The Wedge".

TMPGEnc 4 will accept DivX as an input. It should produce right DVD file. Why do not you download Trial version and see if it will do what you want.
DVD need AC3 or LPCM audio. To produce AC3 you need to purchase additional plug-in for TMPG.

You might not have to upgrade at all, the problem might be because you don't have an MP3 codec on your system that Source Creator can use to decode your audio. Try downloading LAME MP3 Codec and see if you can get audio.

    Thank you for the replies.

Sadly, there is no trial for DVD Source Creator 4. The only trial is Source Creator 2.5... and that version has no VBR settings... (Where mine does).... and I am getting the same result with 2.5. Got Video stream, but the audio is blank.

I also tried to download the Lame MP3 Codec. But, I can't even get the "exe" file to open.
(I just get a "Black" screen for a split second and then it just disappears)

I do not know how I can use the MP3 Codec to fix my problem.

I downloaded the entire lame 3.98b5 folder, but I have no idea what I am to do with the files inside. (Did I even download the right program?)

Any other advice, I am all ears

Extract the contents of the archive (it's a zip file, from memory) to a new folder. (e.g. create a folder called LAME under Program files). Find the file called LameACM.inf. Right-click on this file, and select Install from the menu.
    Read my blog here.

OK.. I downloaded both of these folders to the Desktop:

    LAME 3.97 Release ACM codec

LAME 3.98 beta 5 ACM codec

In each of these folders there is a file called "LameACM.inf"

I right clicked "Install" for the 3.97 version... but then realized that 3.98 might be the more "Current" version.

So I did the same again. Both times Windows gave me a warning, but I pushed through the install.

So that's it? My TMPGEnc DVD Source Creator should "Find" the sound now?

Or do I need to delete the older version?

Try downloading K-Lite codec pack, Its not always recommended but sometimes it will get the job done. Last option would be to try using VirtualDub to frameserve to DSC. Heres a quick guide to get it loaded:

    1. Install/Extract VirtualDub > Run auxsetup.exe > Install handler
    2. Open VirtualDub > File > Open > load your AVI
    3. File > Start Frame server... > Start serving > save the temp AVI somewhere and give it a name like "frameserve.avi" (very important to give it .avi extension because DSC can't read .vdr extension)
    4. Run DSC > Load up frameserve.avi

    Hope that works for you.

None of the Lame Codec's worked.

Still the same result. Got a great picture, but the WAV file is blank.

Where do I find the K-Lite Codec Pack?

Will this make an older version of "Tmpge DVD Source Creator" see the VBR Mp3 audio on my Divx (AVI)?

What does "frameserve to DSC" mean?

Do I need run the AVI through "Frameserve".. and then take that file and put it through Tmpge?

Anyone have a copy of Tmpge DVD Source Creator 4?
Ever have this happen to you?

I really don't want to pay the money unless I know that it will convert the audio from these Divx Files to something Tmpge DVD Author can use.

    Thanks for reading,

Leave the K-Lite Codec Pack alone. It'll probably create more problems that it solves.

If I'm understanding correctly, you're trying to create a DVD from some AVI episodes. Right? That's not a problem. I do it all the time. I just do it differently.

Try demuxing the audio from the video in VirtualDubMod before encoding to MPEG2. If you've got both parts, you can put them back together again when you author.

I'm relatively new at this whole DVD thing, but I've gotten some pretty good results by reading - reading - reading. Go have a look at the guides. Nearly all of them will tell you demux first then convert.

    I'll even quote you...

    Thanks for reading,
Give it a whirl. You'll be amazed at what you can do and all of the groundwork has been laid out for you (courtesy of the folks who toiled long and hard in the early days of this science).

There's also a pretty nice sense of satisfaction when you get it right.

You can find K-Lite at freecodec.com

But as dadrab said, you may or may not want to try K-Lite, it can create more problems. There are tons of guides out there to help you and the best practice would be to demultiplex but there are times when you don't want to. If you want to cut/edit parts of your video then multiplexing might not help so people will keep it as one file to keep the audio sync. Thats just one example.

Anyway I have Source Creator 4 and it will import DivX + MP3. Throw in money for the upgrade if you want, but hey with enough money you can solve anything

At least try the frameserving idea, you may learn new things. You can search Videohelp for what frameserving means. Then follow my small guide to get it going and btw you don't need K-Lite if you try frameserving.
