  1. When I insert a blank CD and DVD, the burner lights flash, but the computer does not read the disc. I went to my computer, right clicked on the DVD-RW Drive icon, went to properties, clicked on hardware, click on to the Pioneer DVD-RW and the device status says that the device is working properly. I am confused. I wonder if the laser on my DVD burner has gone down the pipe.

set the burner to pio mode only then test for reconizeing blank media.
could be a compatability problem with other device on cable

also on my sys atleast, using 80 wire ribben and only removeing power from one of the devices to test consistently caused compatability issues. need to remove the cable from device also

  4. I tried that and it still does not work. I guess now this post will be moved when I say that when I go to Nero Express and click on disc info(With the disc in the drive) it says "No disc insterted or drive not ready,Please try again."

  5. My burner has been working for 3 years. Normally when I install any blank disc the DVD-RW Drive icon(In the My Computer section) changes to an Audio CD icon. Is replacing my DVD drive the only solution to this problem?

Can it see any discs? Store bought Dvds, store bought cds, or are you just trying blanks?

If it can read the store ones, I'm guessing the drive isn't made to work with the blanks your using

perhaps it has seen its last days then. Burners are rather cheap now. $60 for Dual layer.

  9. What I do not understand is that the Device Manager is telling me that the device is "Working Properly",maybe the laser on the drive is shot.
