Objective to capture VHS (pal) and place to DVD
Capture using Virtualdub at 720*576 with 2.1 pulldown and save using lossless compression as AVI (720*288 image)
Load into virtualdub and apply filters as required
What format should the output of virtualdub be saved as to create a dvd image without rerendering?

None. Virtualdub can't do that.
You need to "rerender"...actually the term is "encode". Start reading the guides.Cheers, Jim

reboot is right. virtual dub only really saves to avi and you want to encode to mpeg. try TMPGenc.

At this step you should frameserve directly from Vdub to TMPGEnc so that you avoid an unnecessary recompression step. Guide here.Originally Posted by jase31"Art is making something out of nothing and selling it." - Frank Zappa
