I have a Linksys WRT54G wireless router. I also have a WUSB54G wireless adapter. It seems that the adapter doesn't actually work for everyone (just read over 120 people in different threads about this problem) It also seems that Linksys knows about the problem and either can't fix it or won't! And is just ignoring the problem.
So what I need now is a new wireless adapater that works with the WRT54G router? Anyone care to give me some product suggestions?

Did you try disabling the Wireless Zero Config Service in service manager ?
That might fix it for you. -

Bummer. If you have an extra PCI Slot, I've found the internal cards to work much better than the USB to WIFI units. If you can do that, just get a D-Link PCI card that does 54G. Just bought one last week for a client to replace the WUSB54G. Works flawlessly. Even the drivers that came in the box worked correctly. I'm not saying other brands of WIFI cards won't work as well - I just had a good experience with D-Link

I also have a WRT54G router. I have done some testing with my laptop and desktop and I found that the following cards work:
* US Robotics 802.11g Wireless Turbo PC Card (the fastest transfer rates during my own testing) - 54 Mbps
* Linksys WMP54G Wireless-G PCI Adapter. - 54 Mbps
* Linksys WUSB54G Wireless-G USB Network Adapter (great with my laptop) - 54Mbps
* Laptop internal Cetrino wireless - 11Mbps
* Intel Intel PRO/Wireless 2011B LAN PC Card - 11Mbps -
See I have the WUSB54G adapter and it doesn't work? thought that the computer may have been too far from router, so also bought a range extender, but still wouldn't work. I did some searching and there seems to be a lot of people that are having the WUSB54G not work with XP SP2. Works fine with SP1, but updated to SP2 and nada. Linksys tells me its a OS problem not theirs. Wouldn't you think that they would make there adapters able to work with new operating systems?
I will probably give the WMP54G a try......thanks for you great info.....What We Do In Life, Echoes In Eternity.... -
With the Linksys USB card I did had some disconnection problems in the past. Basically the card was connecting and disconnecting intermittently. I fixed this by allowing the wireless network monitor to control the card. If windows is the one controlling the card the connectivity is very unreliable.
Also a few days ago Linksys released a new set of driver for the WUSB54. You may want to try them.

This version of drivers passed Windows 2000 and XP WHQL. -
Ok well I brought into the same room as the router. Connects everytime. Says the speed is 1.0Mbps? Is that fast or slow? You say you get 54mbps. Says the strenght is excellent. Why am I only getting 1.0mbps? I updated the driver. The version was .06, now ir is v108. The firm ware is v1 i believe, can I update the firm?
