  1. Ok, I'm new at this. I just got the Panazonic MPEG encoder. I made a test MPEG of a 100 mb DivX of Smallville. It came out to a 500 mb mpeg. Now this is just about as much to fit on a regular cd. So what am I to do with a movie DivX that is 700 mb? Surely that mpeg will be too large for a cd, i'm assuming it has to go on multiple? How do I do this? Any help would be great, feel free to share any tips on this process, as like I said, i'm new.

  2. pinkpanther718,

Hi, from my username, you know I'm a newbie. However, have you ever had a chance to visit the How To section on the left in making your VCD? I don't know about your DivX because mines is capture in mpg. I use TMPGEnc. to encode and found its very useful. Plus, in the "Tools" section, Sefy has some TMPGEnc. templates which provides great quality and could compress an 85+ min movie into a single CD-R. Good Luck. Jordan

PS. Let me know if you still have problem getting the full movie into 1 or 2 disc.

With VCD the filesiaxe doesn't matter (well it does, but not the way you think). IGNORE THE MB CAPACITY !!!! Look at the audio capacity, this is what counts. If your DivX is 80 minutes it will fit on an 80min VCD, if it's 120, you will need 2 discs (60 mins each). VCD data is stored similar to audio CD.

  4. As Shabubu mentioned, VCD's (Standard ones! not X something) are measured by their time, so if your movie is 80min, it will fit on a 80min CDR media.

DivX movies are more compressed, but when converted to VCD, you must notice how long they are in time, this is how you will know to fit it on a CD.
