  1. I pick huffyuv as the codec I want to use but it never stays. Everytime I close, then reopen the program it reverts back to uncompressed rgb. So how do I get huffyuv to be the standard codec?

  2. You can't, unless you set up a whole bunch of settings the way you want them, then click File, Save Presets.

  3. So then everytime I open virtual dub I have to load my saved settings? Or once I save the settings (which I did) they are set there?

Because if I have to load them again lol, its the same as having to go in and manually changed to huffyuv codec each time.

Thanks for the help thus far.

You can do this using command line options. (Which are hard to find out about, read Virtual Dub Mod help files for more details)

save your settings to a .vcf file in the virtual dub directory (for example use the file defalut.vcf)

    now startup virtualdub by running:
    virtualdub.exe /sdefault.vcf

(Note there is no space after the /s switch)
Or change your shortcut link to the equivalent:
    "C:\Program Files\VirtualDub\VirtualDub.exe" /sdefault.vcf

    Hope that works
