  1. I am using DVDShrink and my speed ramps up to 5000kbs then slows to 2900kbs. The Proccess under the Task Manager show Shrink is taking 95-99 %.
I formatted myHard drive two weeks ago hoping there was a problem there, and installed Norten Internet Security, (4 in 1).

I was on the phone with Dell today and got rid of some stuff and the computer is running faster.
    DMA is activated

I just don't I just don't understand why it slows down.
Has this happened to anyone else? What did you do to fix it?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks

The application might be finding areas in the file where it can do some heavy duty compression - (eg -areas that don't have much movement and detail). That process is very CPU intensive.

  4. Shrink is not set to run in Low Priority Mode

And, yes, there are many other processes running along with Shrink. Thirtyfour in total. They all say 0% CPU usage.

    Is the of any help?

COuld be dirty disks. Even mild disturbance of the surface can slow the read speeds to ensure a clean read.

Try ripping the same didk with DVD Decrypter instead, just to see what happens.
