  1. Hi,

I would like to know how to go about re-encoding an upscaled 720p rip (mkv) 2.5GB to a small size rip say about 500-600MB (mkv).

I have tried using handbrake couple of times, but the re-encoded rip is pixelated & has major a/v sync issues.

    Can someone guide on this?

    thanx in advance

Why recode an upscale. Go back to or buy the DVD.

    a) It most likely isn't upscaled, but in fact already down scaled from a 1080p source
    b) It has already been crushed by re-encoding to get it down from 25GB or more to just 2.5GB
    c) To get it down to 500-600mb will mean also reducing the resolution down from 1280 x nnn to at least 640 x nnn or lower, and taking a large quality hit

What a waste of a download

  4. Ok, thanks.

Does this hold the same for a blu-ray rip 720p approx 4.4GB

Yep. It is just a bigger version of what you have. You can confirm the actual properties by using mediainfo. If it has a resolution of 1280 x nnn then it is most likely a downsized 1080p video.
