  1. I can't believe it's happening. I installed vegas 5 trial version in my computer but to do this, must install net framework first and so I did. Having successfully installed the program, I uninstalled net framework. And then my three drives (cd burner, dvd burner and dvd rom) just went dead. I tried to uninstall the device driver from device manager for each drive and uninstalled the drives itself and turned off my computer. Installed them all back up again and my win xp detects them all. Went to device manager again and it says windows succesfully installed the device drivers but could not find the hardware, three of them at the same time. Did some troubleshooting but nothing happened. What's happening? Can anybody help me please? Again, I have win xp, 512 ram and 80 gigs of hd. Thanks.

Can you reinstall .NET ? See if your system stabilizes by doing so, then search around for the proper way of removing it.

Also, sounds like your mobo drive controller software might have gotten removed when you uninstalled .NET. Two things to try - 1) reinstall the driver from the mobo CD or the maufacturer's web site 2) (re)apply your XP service pack and hope it puts the files back that .NET removed.

  4. Oops. How can I reinstall my xp since all my drives aren't working?

  5. slap your XP disc in the drive and reboot. You may have to configure your bios to boot from CD when you restart. If it boots into the XP CD then your drives are fine and the problem is in windows. Once booted into the CD you can do a repair of your current installation and see if that helps.

  6. Thanks. I did try already installing my xp and it boots just fine but before I do the whole process, I am going to file my tax return first, you know this activation thing.

  8. No but I did reinstall win xp and all my drives are back and alive. Now I checked my device manager and three controllers aren't working namely multimedia audio, usb and video. How do I fix these? Shall I download from microsoft.com? Thanks again.

Look for some MB drivers that came with the hardware. Frequently devices don't work properly until you install the specific PCI or IDE-specific driver for that particular model of MB

And install any other specific drivers you might find on the disc, like onboard sound, etc.
