  1. OK I AM A DUMB NEWBY

    PC SETUP IS:
    PENTIUM P4 PROCESSOR 3.2GHz HT
    1GB DDR2 RAM
    INTEL 915 MOTHERBOARD
    VGA CARD - ASUS EAX600XT 256Mb VIVO

    CONNECTED VHS VCR VIDEO OUT RCA TYPE PLUG VIA CONVERSION CABLE TO S-VIDEO INPUT PLUG OF THE VGA CARD AND HIT PLAY

    TRIED A PILE OF CAPTURE SOFTWARE (INTERVIDEO WINDVR3, WINDVD RECORDER, CYBERLINK POWER PRODUCER) AND NONE RECOGNISE OR SENSE THE ANALOGUE VIDEO INPUT OR DISPLAY INPUT SIGNAL.

    WHAT AM I DOING WRONG ?

    Installed all driver software/downloaded updates from the manufacturer site?

    Asus capturing can be quite a pain in the butt. Make sure you have the ASUS drivers and ASUS capture utilities.

    Also, I'd check that RCA to S-Video conversion...
    There are lots of ways of doing it, some are one-way only, ie
    RCA to S-video, not S-Video to RCA

    I'd suggest getting something that plays S-video out and use that to start with... then you'll know if its a cable or a software thing
