  1. I have been trying to convert an avi to either VCD or SVCD to burn, but have been totally unsuccessful. The avi plays fine, but it just hangs when I start to convert with tmpgenc. I've tried both vcd and svcd, but just when
I think conversion is about to start, it freezes before making any progress: Tmpgenc (not responding)

Running AVICodec, here is some info:

    File : 939 MB (939 MB), duration: 1:46:30, type: AVI, 1 audio stream(s), quality: 78 %

    Video : 768 MB, 1009 Kbps, 29.970 fps, 720*480 (4:3), DX50 = DivXNetworks Divx v5, Supported

    Audio : 170 MB, 224 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 2 channels, 0x2000 = AC-3 ACM Decompressor, Supported

It appears I have the proper Divx codec and ACM decompressor installed. Any ideas why this avi won't convert?

    Thanks.

convert the audio to wav and use it as audio source in tmpgenc.
    increase the directshow priority.
