  1. I don't know what happened.

    I burned a movie fine yesterday and it didnt hint anything was wrong with my dvd burner.
    The next day a put in a dvd, cdr, and blank dvd and it wont read any media I put in it.
    I went to nero to do a test burn , and the error window poped up saying "theres no media in drive" which there was.

    My dvd model is HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4082B

    Any ideas how to fix this?

    Try the burner in another pc,if its still the same then its hooped,if it works then its a problem with your ide drivers,use ms ide drivers if thats the case.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

  3. Remove it in device manager and reboot & let windows detect & reinstall the drivers then try it again before you go physically removing anything. It might just be a corrupted driver or something.

    Have you tried to burn a CD? If it's like my situation a year ago, then I'll bet you can. That wouold mean that the DVD laser died. No warning seems to be given. In my case, I burned a DVD and about 15 minutes later tried another and BAM, no didk on the drive messages with every program I tried. Yet CDs would burn just fine. Solution??? A new burner.
    No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

    Hmm, Do you think that happened in my case too;

    I ripped and burned a CD last night but didnt think it used a different laser for DVD reading.

    Since I posted that I've been messing around no end with drivers etc. I did mull over downloading firmware, but cant find any specifically for my drive, pluse I have a 2nd dvdrom drive so didnt want to mess that up.

    Was going to try a registry mechanic as a last resort tonight, just in case some software was causing the prob.
