    Hi razzcal,

You can either make a VCD or an SVCD. The latter is higher quality than the former but, because you can only fit so much on to a CD, the running time of the footage will be less.

See "What Is...", top left of the page, for details on (S)VCDs. In there, it'll detail what the specs are for valid (S)VCD files: MPEG1 for VCD and MPEG2 for SVCD.

You can use GSpot to get info on your MPEG files to see if they're compliant.

For other formats, like Xvid, Divx etc. you'll need to encode them to MPEG1 or 2 as required.

TMPGEnc (the free version) will encode to MPEG1. But you'll have to pay to unlock the encoding to MPEG2 (though it's free for the first 30 days on trial). There are other encoders, look in the "Tools" section.

Once you've got your MPEGs, you can use something like VCDEasy to author and burn to CD.

Armed with the above, you should now be able to look up specific guides to answer your detailed questions.

    Godo luck.

    Carpe diem.

If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much room.
