I am TRYING to take 3/4 of a football game using flash media card and loading into my computer. Then I am trying to take the last quarter and trying to make a single dvd! (doing it this way to save time?) Anyways, I WAS ABLE (woohoo!) to make a dvd that plays on my computer but when i place it into my dvd player it recognizes it as a photo dvd and wont play?! I was using imgburn to combine the files from the flash cards..What is this total newbie doing wrong?

  2. dvd players expect a disc in a certain format to play. it can't just be the files off a cam.

you need to encode to dvd spec mpeg-2 and then author them into the correct files and folders.

if you need the software you might try dvd filck as it's free. for a cheap paid program convertxtodvd is easy and works ok.

  4. what format are your files in? use mediainfo on one and paste the output from the text view here.

it might help to copy the flash card files to your hard drive first.

You should start by reading "What is DVD" in the upper left hand corner of this page. If you scroll toward the bottom, you will see a summary of what DVD-compliant specs are. To make a DVD that is playable in standalone players, your video must comply to those specs, and the disc must be authored in a certain way.

Use mpeg-streamclip to convert your MOD files to mpeg-2 files (no re-encoding) and go from there

If it isn't converting then it should take only a minute or two per clip, depending on size. How much quicker do you want ?
