    is there a program that can recover a damaged/scratched disc.........i have a dvd with a scratch on it and it wont play properly is there a disc recovery program like the audio one called audigrabber or similar ????

    Though I've never needed it for this purpose, IsoBuster claims to be able to recover data from scratched disks...

    Are you thinking of EAC (Exact Audio Copy) for CDs? Anyway, for DVDs, try ISOBuster. Use DVDDecrypter if it is a commercial DVD. You could polish out the scratch with toothpaste (white gritty kind) and your finger, then try ripping it with one of the above.
