  1. One of my DVD+R discs has a crack in the inner clear plastic ring (circle) of the disc. Will it still be fine?

Also, one of my Nintendo GameCube discs has a small chip off of that same area. Does it really matter if that area of a disc is damaged and will it ruin my dvd player if I play the DVD+R or will it ruin my Nintendo Wii and/or GameCube disc if I play the GameCube disc in the Nintendo Wii?

I would copy that disc as soon as possible. In a DVD player, the discs don't spin all that fast, so you probably won't damage the player if it breaks, but pieces could get caught in the mechanism which would mean a disassembly to remove.

I have seen several discs with this type of damage come apart in drives. In at least two cases it meant replacing the drives.

  4. So other than the risk of the disc coming apart, should everything be fine (in the case of my GameCube disc for the Wii that only has a very slight chip off of that area)?

  8. And again, I'm just making sure I'm safe in terms of my GameCube disc with the Wii. The cracked DVD+R (obviously) is highly likely to come apart and shouldn't be used. But this GameCube disc I payed $50 for (which is like a miniDVD disc that is very slightly chipped off in the hub--which is that clear plastic inner circle) makes me curious as to whether there are some technical details (problems) that I am aware of that could happen to my Nintendo Wii and/or GameCube disc if I play the GameCube disc in the Wii even though there aren't any cracks.
