thanks, but can you give a web site or specifically what I'm supposed to download? I tried searching but didn't understand what I should be downloading.

When I use that, it prompts for an rmeditor.exe file which I don't have. Where do I get that?

think it's also included with basic producer but not referenced anywhere -- have to locate the file with windows explorer.

  8. another option would be to snag up real alternitive, load the video via an avisynth script to virtualdub and output it to raw avi and edit from there (or maybe you can even edit directly within virtualdub??? i haven't tried this yet myself) then to recompress it to avi......i'd personally go that route, seeing that AVI tends to be a lot easier to work with than RM....

I was looking for a standalone version of RMEditor without the other stuff.

And maybe I should just convert it to MPEG-2 (that's what I'm trying to do) and then do all the cuts and edits after. But the conversion will take long that way.

  10. yea, probably easiest to do that way.........editing just about ANYTHING is easier than editing RM.....at least with mpeg 2, if one program fails for some reason there's always a few other ones to choose from....

The only advantage of R.E.V.E. is that it doesn't require re-encoding. If you are planing on re-encoding anyway, I would go with the AVISynth suggestion, then just feed that into your MPEG encoder.

Ok, the above suggestion suggested just using AVISynth just as a source. I mean to use it for editing to. That way you don't waste time encoding stuff to later cut it out. trim(0,500)+trim(768,0), etc. VirtualDub is still good for looking up the cut points though.

Oh yeah, that's right. I'm currently using an Avisynth to feed the RMVB into TMPGEnc. You can also use TMPGEnc's Source Range to cut out unwanted stuff right? Forgot about that. And then use MPEG-VCR after that to cut out the unwanted stuff within your MPEG file.

I just love using MPEG-VCR. It's just so fast to cut and then save.

Much easier just to edit it with AVISynth before encoding.

You can do it directly in AVISynth? Is there a guide out there for cutting RMVB?

As above. Just a bunch of trim() commands. Got nothing directly to do with RMVB.
