  1. hello helpful people--i'm having a very irritating problem i need help with. i just installed a LITEON 16X DVD+-R/+-RW drive. it plays original dvd's just fine and it can copy them just fine using dvd x-copy platinum-however i cannot play back the copies on the same drive that burned them. i have tried burning them onto dvd-r and dvd+r discs and the problem still persists. the copies i have made do play on a set-top dvd player though so i know they copied ok. when i insert a copied disc it doesnt even recognize that a disk is inserted(this includes powerdvd, easydvd, and windows explorer). i know for sure that some discs i have are encoded using mpeg2 and i also know that i have that codec. i have played these discs before, but since i've played them i installed the new drive and ALSO upgraded from windows 98SE to XP pro. if anyone has any helpful suggestions it would be much appreciated!!

I suggest you get rid of DVDXCopy and go to DVDShrink or DVD Decrypter. DVDXCopy is a commercial virus, IMO

I agree with Cap DVD Shrink or DVD Decrypter are much better solutions, they give you a wide range of options for backing up your dvds, even reauthoring. All free.
