I recently burned an avi file on a dvd and i had problems playing it in two out of three of my dvd players. In one of them it played perfectly fine!! In the other though, when i put it in, it said that the playback feature was not on the dvd. I used a dvd+r. Another day i burned a avi file on dvd and it worked on everyone of my dvd players. So i tryed the put the first one back in to see if that one worked and it didnt again. Then i burned the file that didnt work on an dvd-r and it said the same thing. Why does it say no playback feature? I also used convertxtodvd.

What is the DVD player in question ?

It sounds like a poorly worded error message, and could mean any number of things.

My first guess would be media. Ensure you are using a quality media.

My second guess, would be an aging/failing laser in the Symphonic. Recordable media is harder for a player to read (requires more laser power). As players age, the lasers weaken, and the first type of media to exhibit problems is recordable media.

Every once in a while convertxtodvd spits out a DVD that won't read in my set top player. Whenever that happens I just use IMGTools to create an ISO from the files convertxtodvd outputs and burn it with DVDDecrypter and it plays fine.
