edge detector to follow inteface

Hello,

Is there anybody who know a plugin for Photoshop or a program (in C/C++, fortran ...) to do an edge detction.
Especially i would like to follow an inteface between two liquids with this method using digital video.
Do you have an idea or an advise to me???

Edge detection is not easy or triva. Wrote one years ago to Vectorize a picture. Need to find the edge so to speak.

Check with Adobe. They had a pacakage years ago to "Vectorize" a picture.

One concept is a difference between frames. Same as Mpeg1 or 2 in how it works. Could bring in the "frames" and take the differences of them. The difference would be your edge. You can run into problems. But it may work.

The other is check about ten years back in Dr Dobbs Journal. They had an article on reducing the thickness of "thing" in a bitmap. Search for the word "wild fire". It basically hitting a picture from left-right and top-bottom. You keep hitting it untill you have thined out the object. This. If lucky. May do your edge detect.
