How many characters can the disc label/volume name be? Are there different lengths for +R/-R formats? Will going beyond the limit cause major issues where playback is concerned?
Thanks!

I believe the ISO9660 format is a maximum of 31 characters, to make sure that the label is displayed correcty by virtually any DVD-Rom reader or DVD player
There is another format, that will let you use upto 255 characters in ASCII format, so you can have upper and lowercase and numbers mixed, where the ISO9660 format insists on all uppercase, with no spaces allowed
I don't think it would cause any problems if the reader can't understand the label, it would just display garbage
