I have the Pioneer 106d burner. I never really tried +R discs until now. They are Tayio Yuden 8x +R discs. The burner will burn fine, but after I eject and put back in there, it won't recognize the disc at all. I tried a couple of times w/ a different +R disc. I am running factory firmware 1.07. Any ideas or comments?

What software are you using to burn the discs? I used to have a 106 and had this problem. It turned out that it had something to do with te fact that I was burning with Clone DVD and DVd decrypter instead of Nero or Alcohol.

I've used +R disks in my A06 and have had no problems reading the disks afterwards. What brand media are you using? I've used Maxell and Samsung (TY media code).

I'm using TDK w/ the TY media code. This isn't a huge deal for me because my dvd rom drive reads the disc fine, but it's bugging me for some reason why the Pioneer will not. Perhaps if I upgraded to a hacked firmware?

I used the Pioneer 106D burner for around 12 months. I only ever burned one DVD+R disc and it was not readable by any player I have. I used DVD-R blanks all the time and didn't experience any problems whatsoever. I have ever tried to burn a rewriteable, didn't have the need, so I cannot comment on that media.
Conclusion: Use DVD-R blanks. -
updated to firmware version 1.08 and dvd+r is still not readable. I also noticed that it take a bit long to recognizde in my dvd-rom drive. I think I will stick to dvd-r after this batch runs out. Thanks

Never had a single problem with DVD+R on my 106D. 100% coaster free so far! 8)
DVD+R media i use with this drive: RICOHJPN-R01-02 (Maxell 4X made in Taiwan) ; MAXELL-002-00 (Maxell 8X made in Japan). -
I'm coaster free to, but it's just that the 106D doesn't read the disc after burning. My dvd player does and the dvd-rom in my computer does. Not a huge deal. These are Tayio Yuden discs, supposidly the best, and I don't get why they don't read in the Pioneer after burning.

Look at my earlier post it may be what I mentioned

Hi,
I disagree with Tidy's software recommendations and that contradicts all of my experiences. Also other threads on this forum show that one of the best burning programs is DVDDecrypter and that Nero is one of the buggiest (for DVD - CDs are fine!).
But please read through these threads over here. It might help.

Tidy,
this is off topic but since I have furnished some links for the problems let's just quickly discuss the "Nero"subject.
First, read this:
https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=258338
Then also I have this picky but otherwise perfect Dawooe 5700 player that always had trouble with the DVD's burnt with Nero 5.5. I switched then to do an image with ImgTools and burn with DVDDecrypter. Problem solved. But since this picky loader in that player bugged me I replaced the loader with a PC DVD-ROM drive and that player is now perfect (MV free, no region code, 110 -220V). Basically it plays everything you throw at it. The point is: It depends also highly on the player(s) you have. Nero at least in the past had done some unusual file order not every player liked. The author of ImgTool and ImgToolBurn (uses the Nero engine) made Ahead software aware of this problem and it's now obviously solved. But - Nero has the tendency of "featurism" and fixes problems with new releases but also introduces new bugs. Yes. I don't have any recent issues with it but depending on the release version many people have. Same thing when they upgrade their firmware. Suddenly Nero won't work anymore or results in flawed burns. When it works - it works. But many times it doesn't.

neros ok for audio cds,but for dvds, baah! crap.
dvd decrypter is one of the best for dvds, alongside copytodvd.
as for the original posters problem,is he sure that they are real TY discs.
the name tdk,and ty just sound fake to me.LifeStudies 1.01 - The Angle Of The Dangle Is Indirectly Proportionate To The Heat Of The Beat,Provided The Mass Of The Ass Is Constant. -
I bought them at bestbuy and word had it that if the sticker "made in Japan" was on it, then they were Tayio Udens. If I recall, dvdderpter says TY and followed by some numbers. Other than that, I don't know how identify the disc
