I have some DVD's I burned with my Panasonic standalone burner. I decided to re-do the projects using ULead Movie Factory 3.

I had added all the files I wanted and created the menus (total disc size would have been about 3.8GB). I saved the project to be burned at a later time.

When I opened the project, the disc size nows shows up as 19.7GB!!

    What could be causing this?

Maybe the original files were 1/2D1 and MP2 audio, and now, after encoding, they're full D1 with LPCM audio? Just a thought.

Capmaster is probably right. Be sure to select (or create) an appropriate Disc Template. Also, have you installed the DMF 3 patches? As I recall, there was a bug that caused project size errors. There are also 1 or 2 additional patches.

I was disappointed on many levels in DMF3 and quickly upgraded to DWS2 Express. What a world of difference! DWS2 has a great deal of flexability, and uses an interface similar to DMF3. It is definately worth the extra cash. Download the 30 day trial version and see for yourself. (Unfortunately, the trial version does not support AC3 audio.)

NOTE: If you do upgrade, be sure copy the Menu Templates and Still Backgrounds from DMF3 to another folder (or disc). (While DWS2 Express is a much better program, it does not offer as many templates or backgrounds as DMF3.)

going from half D1 to Full D1 won't increase your file size. What will increase the file size is if you go from mpeg audio to lpcm audio (as mentioned), and if for some reason DMF 3 is trying to re-encode your videos to a higher bitrate. But up to 19gb sounds high -- as mentioned there are some patches that helped with the size estimates -- I would install them to see if that helps...
