Okay, it all started when I found out that Windows movie maker was free. I thought I would try it out and see if I even liked editing. Well of course I love it and spent many many hours on a final video with transitions, still pictures, video, titles, etc. I saved the final video on my harddrive as an avi file. I also copied the final video back to my dv camera so I could at least have it there if not on a dvd. Because movie maker does not do dvds. So then I got an I/O magic external dvd burner and it came with studio8 SE. Of couse studio wouldn't import my avi from movie maker because of the different format avi 1 vs. avi 2. So I downloaded Canopus DV File converter and converted a small section of another clip (pure video imported from sony HC40 to movie maker and saved as avi1.) into avi2 just to see if Studio would open this converted file before I convert my final video. But Studio couldn't open it. It simply states the name of the new file and says it could not be opened. OK. In the future I will do all I need to in one program but since I didn't, Does anyone know how I can get my final video that I made in movie maker 2 to either import into Pinnacle studio or some other way without buying an entirely new software just to burn this 20 minute video? I think I read that Pinnacle won't open anything not made in it even if it's the right format. If all fails I suppose I could import my final video from the dv tape I copied into pinnacle and hope there are no dropped frames and burn it from there. What about pinnacle's expression, would it be easier to import it there, then I wouldn't have to place each tile in the timeline, etc. I'm just rambling....any ideas?

You just need to author the DVD. Authoring apps will open AVI and convert to DVD-compliant files.
THere are many apps, like Ulead DVD Movie Factory, Nero Vision Express, and several free ones if you look in the Tools section.
Relax, you're almost there -
Take my word for it, if you can't learn here, you can't learn anywhere. These guys are great...

Well I tried it again since you said it should work and in studio 8SE I could not open dv-avi 1, but I figured out that it would open avi2. (I was trying to open it as a project when I needed to open and import it first.) Luckily it worked and I BURNED IT TO DVD yeah! I have no idea how long it took because i went to bed. However, it left off my credits at the end. Is that because they don't do scrolling credits on studio or was that just a rendering and burning problem?
