  1. I have Shrek.avi and would like to encode it to .mpg and burn on a VCD. Below are the properties for the file but every template I use in TMPGEnc fails ("An error occurred when audio was encoded&quot. What settings should I use (no template)?

    File Size: 701MB

    Audio:
    Audio format: MPEG Layer-3
    Average data rate: 15.999 Kb/sec
    Sample Rate: 48.00 kHz
    Channels: 2 (Stereo)

    Video:
    Stream name: Shrek.avi Video #1
    Frame Width: 512 pixels
    Frame height: 384 pixels
    Play length: 5279.70 seconds
    Frame count: 126571
    Frame rate: 23.976 frames/second
    Data rate: 136.20 Kb/sec
    Video Sample size: 24 bit
    Video compression: DIVXMPG4 V3

If there's a pro out there that can help out a newbie here and give me the correct settings to get this file to a 800 MB or so .mpg I'd greatly appreciate it!

  2. you need to make a wav file of the audio.try virtual dub.
    1. in VB go to file and open video file.
2.next go to audio and click full processing mode.
3.go back to file and select save wav, choose file name and
    click save.
use the wav file as your audio source in tmpge.
    if the frame rate is:
    23fps use ntsc film template
    25fps use pal template
    29fps use ntsc template

  3. blarb,

I'm sort of a newbie too. I'm no pro but I'm guessing you DVD-rip your clip, right? If so, go here for your instructions:

    http://www.vcdhelp.com/tmpgenc.htm

If my guess it correct (DVD-rip) then you'll need a Codec and the above site will have it all for you

Look through the How To section and the forum first, to see if your question could be answer. That way, you don't need for your post reply. Good Luck, Jordan
