I am trying to burn a .mov file 445mb using my 15in powerbook superdrive in toast. I have tried a normal straight forward burn in video mode and also tried to save as a disc image, both result in the not enough memory error = - 108 after doing most of the encoding. I have no idea why this is happening, i have over 20gb space on my hard drive and no obvious things using lots of memory ram or virtual. What am I doing wrong here, this should be straight forward surely???

That error appears when the source that Toast is burning is a VIDEO_TS folder that is incomplete, such as missing a .IFO or .BUP file.

Yeah, Toast's use of the word "memory" in error messages can be misleading. It might show up when Toast gets confused by certain file in the source it thinks don't belong there (e.g. .DS_Store, but 6.0.7 may ignore those).

not sure what my solution is then? it plays fine as a .mov, any ideas of how best to make it a DVD?

You need to verify what are the components
needed to play back this movie.
An -108 error can also appear
if, for instance, the movie in question
was encoded with a codec toast/QT doesn't like,.
for instance DIVX 4.15 or Indeo.
To try and fix, try using Quick Time Pro and
exporting the movie out as a Quicktime movie,
but choose the Sorenson or Motion JPEG codecs,
with converting the audio to AIFF 48khz, 16 bit.
Without the Info from Quicktime I'm sorta flying blind here,
but hopefully this will point you the right direction."Everyone has to learn, so that they can one day teach."

Urban Mac User -
did you manage to fix this problem - i am getting this error too.
i don't know what codec was used (this is a disc i have downloaded - it's not from a ripped source originally either), and i don't have QT pro.
the VIDEO_TS folder contains the following :-
VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB
VTS_01_3.VOB
VTS_01_4.VOB
VTS_01_5.VOB
i created an AUDIO_TS folder and was trying to burn as CD-ROM in Toast 6.0.5 as recommended by Galactica.
any advice much appreciated. -
Perhaps you mean DVD-ROM(UDF)?
Because if you were trying to burn to
a (VIDEO) CD-Rom, you would need
to re-author it as a Video CD, not DVD
structured format.
Do you at least have VLC? Try playing the Video_TS
folder in VLC...your problem could be either:
1. missing VOBs
2. Corrupted VOBS
3. Corrupted IFO"Everyone has to learn, so that they can one day teach."

Urban Mac User -
i found a solution to this problem on another forum ...
if you get a -108 error in Toast :-
make a copy of the VTS_01_0.IFO file and rename it VTS_01_0.BUP
place this file in the VIDEO_TS folder
burn away !
it worked for me in this case - but if anyone knows a reason why this is not a good fix, then please let me know. the disc i made like this seems to be playing fine.
