I have been trying to rip just the movie from my copy of Blades of Glory with DVD Shrink, and I keep getting a Out of Memory error at 48%. I noticed that as soon as begin encoding my Ram (1 GB) usage rises to 99% (which I have never seen before. I also tried Nero Recode and had the same results. Has anyone else run into this problem with this DVD? If so how do you get around it?

use the latest version of DVDFAB DECRYPTER. DVD SHRINK is not a ripping software and it's no longer updated. your disc could be corrupted as well if you've used crappy cheap as dvd media like MEMOREX.

They got it to work. The output folder has illegal characters < > in it. Remove those and you don't get out of memory errors.

Hi, I also had a lot of problems copying a DVD. DVD Shrink always gave me OUT of MEMORY.

I use DVDFab HD Decrypter to get rid of the encryption and region settings. Works perfect.
Then I use DVD Shrink to re-author those files and compress to a DVD5. Always worked perfect.

The latest DVD's must have something in the menu or in the extra's. I always copied the full DVD to my HD and then let DVD Shrink re-Author everything. My memory goes from 40 MB to almost the full DVD 4 GB in my memory.
(RAM is 4096 MB DDR2) and then fails: OUT of MEMORY...

I now copy only the Main Movie in DVDFab and then shrink it with DVD Shrink to a DVD5 ISO.
No more out of memory errors. DVD Shrink is stable in the memory 70 - 110 MB.

    I hope this can help!

All programs above are freeware by the way. Thanks to the makers!!!

thanks for your experience. I tried backing up my copy of BOG yesterday and was able to rip (full Disc) to HD, but Shrink stopped at 34% while encoding. read elsewhere where people deleted the <> from the folder, but I'm using the latest Fab Decrypter, ran the output thru FixVTS. that too did not work in Shrink.

will have to buy the Platinum version I guess if more and more movies come with the protection BOG is encrypted with.

    thanks.

Update: Make sure the vob/video files you are working with either from disk or h/d are O.K. I had the experience of this message appearing when I tried to reauthor using DVD Shrink - it seemed to recognize and load the video as usual, but Shrink came up with 'Out of Memory' error when I tried to double click on the Title to add it to a compilation in Shrink. In my case I had 384mb of Memory and 2.00gb of Virtual Memory available to the system. I think the disk on which I had the video files had a tiny error (I'm still not sure whether the error was physical or a timing issue), nevertheless, DVD Shrink was sensitive enough to trip over it and throw out this rather spurious rejection. I re-encoded the vob files to a file on my hard drive using DVD Flick, DVD Shrink then seemed to accept the new vob output for reauthouring...
