Hi, could someone please tell me what the following messages mean.
This message is from dvd shrink.
dvd shrink encountered an error and cannot continue,
invalid dvd navigation structure.
This appeared when I tried opening the disc.
This message is from dvd decrypter.
possible structure protection found,
12 areas have been marked as suspect,
dummie sectors will be inserted where necessary.
Decrypter copied all files with no read errors but when I try re-authouring it with shrink the file folder is just video-ts and it doesn't analyse anything.
Cheers.

Cheers, however i'm still a bit confused. The way I normally backup movies is as follows.
Decrypt movie with dvd decrypter, re-authour with shrink. It then analyses it and then I backup and burn with decrypter.
All the post from gurm says is rip using Decrypter, how do I put it through shrink before burning it with Decrypter. -
I'm beginning to think the error messages we are seeing from certain recent Sony/Columbia/Tristar dvd titles have more to do with poorly designed and executed dynamic branching in a dvd which offers the theatrical version and some alternate/extended scenes - than any new copy protection. The originals of these play terribly when selecting the extended/alternate versions (The Forgotten, Ray, etc.).
Be sure you have downloaded and installed the latest versions of DVDDeCryptor and DVDShrink.
Rip the dvd with DVDDeCryptor - ignore the error messages. The latest version of the program seems to be able to handle what it finds just fine.
Then, use DVDShrink to transcode (if necessary) and re-author. Just use the "Open Files" button to access the files you saved from DVDDeCryptor. Numerous other programs can do this also, such as CloneDVD2. Then burn the output from DVDShrink with whatever burning program you normally use. I realize this entails 3 steps - but it works reliably.
