  1. Hi,
    Ive been encoding VCD's from DVD for some time now with a PII 128mb 10 Gig HDD. Im finding using TMPGenc its taking about 16hrs for a 2 hr movie. I usually run it as a batch job and it creates 2 Mpegs each about 550-600Mb in size. I run these at normal compression. Basically Im asking if I was to go out and a buy a brand new P4 1.7Ghz with 256mb PC in the morning how much time can I expect the encoding process to take.

    I get about 3.5 to 4 hours per 2 hour rip to encode via dvd2avi frameserved into TMPG. I'm on a P3 866, w/ 512 of SDRAM. Now to note memory doesn't play into encoding at all. It is all processor driven and dependent. So get the highest one you can
