  1. My graphic chard is a Radeon 7200 64MB DDR.
When I restart the computer from windows, the system take long to restart and when it does so, the image is completely blurr or even black with a few lines and often windows does not start.
If I start the computer (from the computer off), no problems occur.

I had the problem with my last ASUS A7V266-E motherboard too. I had the graphic chard repaired and it thent worked fine for a while. Then the problems started again. Bying a new motherboard (ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe) did not solve the problem.
Lately, I had the graphic card sent to ATI again (it is still on warranty, and they sent me a new one(at least the serial number was different) but it did the same as the previous one).
I sometimes get messages during the POST of system failure due to CPU Overclocking, but I have everything set to yhe default options.
I have all the last drivers and have flashed the bios.

Setting CPU external frequency to 166MHZ, and setting memory frequency to 100%, as I was suggested, did not help, instead it make it worst as the system would not start at all and I had to reset the bios.

    Thank you for any help,
    Yoram

I would suspect the RAM also. If you can substitute memory sticks, or if you have 2 sticks, pull one out and try each separately. You can also try memtest86 that does a fair job of testing memory. http://www.memtest86.com/

  4. I forgot to say in the previous message that I had already tried to swop the memories, but they are either both corrupt because this did not solve the problem.
I did tried a different graphic card and had no problems. When I put mine back in, I restarted the computer and it was fine, the second time it was bad again.
I also did tried to unable the graphic card in safe mode. The first time I restarted, it was fine, the second time the image was blurr and the third time the computer hang on a black screen.
When I did the tests with the Memtest, I had a funny thing happening, the CPU was of 1234Mhz instead of 2078Mhz (it went back to 2078 after a while). Errors were detected by thousands, I think. I have read that with AMD Athlon, the Memory must be of good quallity, mine were cheap. I will buy a new one, the problem is that I do not know which to buy.

AMD CPUs aren't so sensitive to memory problems, but ASUS MBs are reported to be. I run 1024G of Corsair Value Select memory PC3200 (512 X 2 pack) in a ASUS A7N8X-E computer.

It's a lower end memory for about $170US for the pair. Works fine with dual channel.

If you are into overclocking or gaming, though, you might look into some higher priced memory.

i would check asus's web site to see if your memory is compatible. could be be a conflict with the memory
