Team America: World Police assuming you like juvenile and vulgar movies. Worth it just for the graphic puppet sex scene. It also has tow cats that look this my avatar.

Anyway, I'm looking to see if anyoe can recommend Harold and Kumar go to White Castle, Dodgeball, or Napoleon Dynamite. Can someone tell me if they are distasteful / juvenile / vulgar enough for me?

  5. zzyzzx i found harold and kumar very funny.

good stoner movie, if you have ever been on a mission to get that exact piece of food you hunger for with the munchies, you will appreciate it.

dodgeball has some great humor in. especially love the coach and his technique for getting people angry. stillers bad guy routine emulates one of his previous roles as a camp director of some fat kids summer camp. (cant remember) his inflato cod piece had me in stiches.

    mic

p.s. the best would have to be team america, that dick, pussies and ******** speech had me on the floor.

How about"Johnny Dangerously" that's a pretty funny movie. Along the lines of Airplane. Haven't seen it in the rental stores though. If you've never seen it it's well worth it.

Infernal Affairs is a good one that should be out or should soon be out on DVD here in the states. Or you could wait for the Brad Pitt Leo DiCaprio version.

Infernal Affairs II is also very good. Some people didn't seem to like the sequels but I liked this one (I still haven't seen part III). Its a prequel and has a lot more character development than the first one.

If you're looking for something 'mindless' but entertaining I'd recommend "Dodgeball"...

I've just rented "Bourne Supremacy" which is okay, "Bourne Identity" was better - If you liked Identity then you'd like Supremacy...

Also Just rented "Troy" - looks pretty good but haven't seen the whole movie yet...

Looking at my collection of older flicks: I think I may watch "The Silence of the Lambs" tomorrow - been a while and it was a great show.

  17. Their is a part in troy, where a big army is "marching" and you hear the sound of like hitler's army (all marching in unison) but in the video, they aren't even marching. They are just walking clumbsily. Or...so my friend tells me. I have yet to verify.

    Hello,

I would recommend you to watch the following movies:

    1. Ghost in the Shell (Anime with a lot of Technology and gun fight scenes)

    2. Ninja Scroll (Anime)

    3. BrainScan ( A Classic thriller)

    4. Ghosts of Mars ( Heavy Metal slaughter)

    5. The Thing ( By Director John Carpenter)

    6. Dog Soldiers

    7. The 13th Warrior

    8. Brotherhood of the Wolf ( French Accent Detected)

Some are old movies, but really good from my point of view.

    Some Faves -

Sexy Beast - GREAT overlooked flick.

Shadow of the Vampire - Willem Dafoe is incredible.

The Bad News Bears (saw it last month, laughed my @ss off)

The Big Picture (1986, w Kevin Bacon)

    DogTown and ZBoys

    Drugstore Cowboy

    The Wedding Banquet

Gimme Shelter (Stones 1969. Absolutely riveting to watch when the Hells Angels show up)

Snatch - not great, but very fun

    Fight Club

    The Royal Tennenbaums

Tritto. I do not understand the appeal. Did not think it was too funny. Someone told me that you had to be alive in the 70s to get it, but since nobody was more alive in the 70s than Capmaster and he didn't like it, I guess that is not necessarily true.

I've watched a few DVDs recently:

Cheaper By The Dozen - good mindless chick-flick to watch snuggled up with the missus

Spiderman 2 - loved it, better than the first IMO, as above with the missus

Gothika - freaky, wouldn't recommend unless you're sick and twis .... actually, yep, everyone here will probably like it
    If in doubt, Google it.

Harold and Kumar go the White Castle is hilarious. I had very low expectations going into it but after seeing it twice in theatres (once to get out of seeing Princess Diaries 2, long story) I'm definitely buying the DVD.

Hilary Duff and that chick from Coyote Ugly... mmmm....

A movie I would not recommend is Elektra, saw that last night and whilst it wasn't too bad it was just stupid and the plot was crap.

Last weekend's movies (none this weekend because I'm working):

Harold and Kumar - Pretty funny for a stoner movie. Let someone else rent it and watch it with them, I don't think I'd spend the money on it again.

Shaun of the Dead - I thought this was going to be a lot funnier, but it wasn't disappointingly so. Worth renting, probably worth owning. May be funnier the second time through?

Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring - Korean film about a monk raising a younger monk on a floating temple. Set in current time, just a remote temple so contact with the outside world is limited. I'd certainly watch it again.

Dogville - The guy at Blockbuster actually tried to warn me against renting this movie saying that everyone he's talked to hated the movie. That intrigued me even more. I love the unique way of protraying the film. The story behind it is depressing as hell and the ending just takes that further. Not to say it was a bad movie, on the contrary it was a wonderful look at what cruelty we are capable of. I think it worth owning. Be careful though, it is hard to watch sometimes. If you couldn't handle the depressing ending of The House of Sand and Fog you probably won't be able to stomach this one.
