That's what I used to call her, too ... Piper Perabo I think her name is ...

    If in doubt, Google it.

Troy was a pretty good flick. I'm not Brad Pitt's biggest fan but he was actually perfectly cast for this one. As was that Eric Bananas guy from the Hulk flick (crappy).

Man on Fire was a really good one. Denzel Washington is just a great actor. I haven't ever seen a movie of his that I didn't like.

Van Helsing was decent. Hugh Jackman action flicks are starting to grow on me.

Collateral was another really good one I've seen recently. Not a big Tom Cruise fan but he was real good in this one. And Jamie Foxx has come a long way since his Living Color days. That guy can act. He turned in an awesome performance in this one.

Anchorman. Will Farrell. Christina Applegate. All you need to know. Rent it if you haven't already. Funny stuff.

  3. Anchorman was a disappointment I thought. It looked like it was going to be funny as hell but alot of its jokes fell flat.

I hope Will Ferrell makes the movie he wrote with him playing a used car salesman.

Van Helsing was utter crud I thought. Man on Fire was alright, Denzel was good as usual but was expecting more from the film.

I thought the scene with Jack Black on the bridge was hilarious. The bloopers from that scene at the end were a pisser as well.

I could handle that this was more like a stage play than a film, but that it was instead more like a stage rehearsal took much away from the plot...it was very distracting having to imagine doors, buildings, etc...and pretend you don't notice the rest of the cast when they aren't supposed to be in the scene they're in

3 hours of it was a bit much - and at first I was convinced that I had received the bonus disc 'cause there just was no way that could be the movie

For you guys who thought Open Water wasn't like watching a movie, just wait 'til ya feast your eyes on this one

Was a well written story - but its viewers should be forwarned what it is they are getting themselves into, 'cause this is the type of thing mainstream audiences can't handle.

I'm a lot more patient and open minded than most, and even I had a hard time with this movie...after a while you just become immune to it and it doesn't phase you, but it takes a good bit to adjust.

I found myself laughing at stuff that wasn't meant to be humorous...you just laugh when you can see the props as clear as day and be forced to pretend that you don't notice.

  7. Collateral was pretty good.
    Cellular, nice twist.
    Ray, great simple semi-bio entertainment.
Aviator, if you like Leonardo, as with Catch me if you Can.
    Phantom of the Opera (2004).
White Noise...slow in places, worth seeing once.
    AvsP, still good fun.
Meet the Fockers, don't waste money here.
Million Dollar Baby, Clint's latest sleeper...zzzzzz
Chronicles of Riddick, WAY better on dvd with the extras (unrated whatever version).
The Life Aquatic, pass...get Caddyshack instead, it's so much better.
Van Helsing (yes it's good...CZJ is HOT!)
The Polar Express, worth it just for CGA.
Shaun of the Dead - I thought this was going to be a lot funnier, but it wasn't disappointingly so. Worth renting, probably worth owning. May be funnier the second time through?
    Nope.

I had heard Troy being described as soft porn for gay men...

  13. ^^^I don't know about that. What I do know is that it was a great flick and also had 2 hot chicks, both chicks can be seen in wicker park too.

  14. You probably heard that about the Oliver Stone film, Alexander, with Colin Farrell (as a bleached blond) playing a bi Alexander The Great.

Also not the first time Colin Farrell got it on with another guy on screen.

Easy to get the two movies confused.

Yeah, Colin Farrel played a homosexual in A Home at the End of the World. It was a good movie, but nothing as spectacular as a lot of folks were saying it was. I didn't think Alexander was good at all, and not because of the more realistic portrayal of sexuality back then. It just felt too forced after about 1/3 of the movie. And all the different accents were throwing me way off.

Heres a few I've seen over the last few weeks (rental & movies).

The Incredibles (brilliant spin on comic book heroes/james bond: You Only Live Twice)

    The Grudge (good plot.... Ringesque)

Cypher (good plot from the director of the Cube movies)

Polar Express (Christmas only sort of movie..but good)

    The Forgotten (good plot)

    The Missing (cowboy/witch/displaced parents)

Crime Spree (a few years old now but highly entertaining..and I missed it until it was released on DVD...good fun).

Sex Lives of the Potato Men (you'll either love it or hate it...men portrayed as.... well, men)

I thought Lost in Translation was an interesting portrayal of how close we can come to infidelity in such an innocent way. The setting in Tokyo was just kinda fun, though it played on some stereotypes. Maybe it helps having been to Tokyo, I dunno. I also think Bill Murray is still hilarious even with how subtle it is now. Best part was some of the cinematography in it, though the theatrical release had two very bad mistakes in it where the boom mic showed up in the shot

That's another good example of a movie people either liked or hated.

I liked it alot. Mostly because I knew very little about Howard Hughes. This was very insightful and therefore very interesting. He lived an exciting life, well for the most part anyways, that disorder was sad. The acting was superb. I now have a couple Howard Hughes flicks in my Blockbuster que - "Hell's Angels" (1930) and "Scarface" (1932). Can't wait to see them.
