  1. i was trying to rip a DVD using DVD Decrypter, but it looks likes it's having problems reading the disc. but, there are other PGC's on the DVD which DVD decrypter ripped with no problems. i tried other rippers (Smart Ripper and vStrip) and just copying the VOB using windows explorer, but it still won't read the disc.

anything i can do to remedy this?

What movie are you trying to rip? There's a new copy protection system that has much discussed involving sectors. Sounds like the same problem.

  10. Sounds like the disc is scratched,go to Tools->Settings->I/O tab and enable Ignore Read Errors.

  15. just ran dvdshrink. got a data error "cyclic redundancy check."

  16. If it is getting a CRC error, then you'll likely either have a dirty read side that you might not have noticed or you'll have an actual flaw in the media, as in a scratch. It happens.

Have you tried fast forwarding through the entire original and check all the extras, etc, to see if it has a read error using the original? If there are foreign languages that you don't need, you could try eliminating them using DVD Shrink or try reauthoring the main movie only under the same and hope to get lucky.

I just recently had the same error with DVD Shrink, and I made sure the disk was clean, put it back in the drive, and it took off with no probs. It definitely seems to be a "physical" issue with the disk itself.

    Hope this helps.

  18. Your dvd is probably physically damaged though it may not be visible to naked eye. Did you leave the dvd in bright sunlight for long. Because the ultraviolet light can damage the disk without scratching !! It will result in CRC error.
