You could move to Utah. I hear they sell Disney'fied movies with all the objectionable content already removed - language, sex, whatever some Mormons decided was acceptable. If you've got kids, then maybe they shouldn't see that movie at all? Have 'em wait and see it how the director intended....

I've seen threads like this before and they never end well...
You might check out www.cleanflicks.com
They edit the movies for you (and do a very good job I might add). You buy a retail copy and they provide you an edited copy as well.
Not sure how long they will be in business as they are in legal problems with the mpaa.
Edit.
They even offer a netflix like subscription service.Donadagohvi (Cherokee for "Until we meet again")

Utah isn't exactly the only place this sort of thing is occurring. I live in Salt Lake City and a close friend of mine used to edit for the folks that started CleanFlicks. He did an incredible edit of Gladiator that you could never tell anything was missing from (unless you'd seen the uncut of course). There are other movies - Air Force One, for example - that were poorly edited and even a newcomer to the film could easily tell something was awry. My friend got out of there when the legal stuff started hitting the fan.
Anyway, as I understand it, CleanFlicks franchises were sold all over the country. Utah's hardly the only place where there's any demand for such content, but it's the most obvious one so everyone always references it.

I'm really sick of all this hypocrisy. People agree when the government wants to drop bombs and engage into wars killing thousands of innocent people around the world but find unacceptable if somebody says shit or ass.
Hello! Your kids maybe know more of these words than you Mr. Clean!
Enjoy!

Don't go fingering it as hypocrisy out of hand. For all you know, the person that wants to clean up a movie for his kids also objects to war and bombing and so forth. If the guy wants to clean up his movie, who are you or I to care? He just needs some tech assistance, not a philosophical debate on violence and nudity et al.

There as a post a while back about a special player that could essentially censor language and adult scenes on the fly. The company basically goes through movies and sets flags of sorts which you can download. When one flag is triggered the volume mutes for so many seconds, and when another is triggered it skips ahead so many seconds, etc... Of course it only works if they've gotten around to creating the codes for your particular movie.
As far as doing it manually, you could re-encode and reauthor the disks and just remove those sections. I don't think there is really any easy way to do it.
I don't know of any codecs or software players that let you skip specific scenes in advance like that. Closest you could do would be to frameserve your vob files to media player through avisynth and use the trip function. Lot of work though if there are alot of scenes to skip.

I sense an alternate agenda here.
maxidrom11's profile and previous posts show interest in deep edit manipulation of commercial media.
editing R content is a recent "trend" to start threads. Interesting that the original poster rarely participates
in the discussion.

I need help - does anyone have a plugin (don't mind that I'm not telling you what program I need a plugin for) that will remove all instances of the word "freckle" from my DVD's? I find it offensive, and I don't want my kids to hear the word "freckle".
I won't post again in this thread, so don't bother replying!
WOOOO!

All judgements aside, I'm not aware of any program that has this sort of time-coded filter as such on it to facilitate this as easily as you think it should be, but as mentioned, it isn't that hard to do it yourself manually.
The basic rundown would be something like this:
convert the DVD back to an MPEG file
edit with MPEG-VCR or VideoRedo or <insert MPEG editor here>
import new MPEG into authoring software
burn output from authoring
or you could look at DVDShrink's Start/End feature to deliberately exclude certain points. If in doubt, Google it.
