  1. i have been having issues with nero vision express versions 2 & 3 on my computer...

for some reason when the total progress of the creation of anything (svcd & dvd) reaches approx 20-25% the program stops doing anything.

it does this when using both mpg files and divx or xvid avi's.

    any suggestions (besides switching programs)?

    thanks

  4. Are you sure it's doing nothing? It's probably re-encoding your whole video in the background.

  6. Yeah, that could be it, but .vobs are all 1 gig or less, so unless the temp file(s) Nero creates is bigger than 4 gig...
How much free space have you got?

The 98SE was not the issue.
I've been using NVE on both machines: 98SE with P3 1.0GHz and 448 Mb SDRAM, and on XP P4 2.8 GHz and 512Mb DDRAM.
I have had a habit to keep notes on versions of installed programs.
The most stable (for me) was version of 2.12.21. This version had optimum speed and video quality.

Not sure where you find them but I'd suspect that you need to find and delete NVE's temp files. On NVE 3 I had one encode that corrupted and from then on nothing worked with NVE. I even deinstalled and reinstalled to no avail. It had left something around that wasn't being deleted.

I'd try contacting Ahead. They seem a bit slow but do repond. My investigations into the problem were overtaken by an XP reformat and reinstall and I've not had the same problem since.

The way NVE "remembers" files implies the temp files are pretty critical, i.e. when you import a source file next time it doesn't bother analysing it.

Good luck and persevere with NVE. It's a bit fragile but for just converting an mpeg capture to dvd it's great. When it hiccups on a file then I pull out Studio 9 but for my pseudo VCR stuff NVE is quick and simple.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards, jrisch
