Im having some problems with ritek ridata 8x G05 media. pretty much what happens is when i burn a disc i get after burn marks. like burn marks and dye runs. but this only started happening after i burned 30 or so memorex's. when i switched back to ritek ridata then i had these problems. Here are some pictures :;
also when it *Doesnt* Do this. it does something like this :
notice the dye runs around the middle of the disc.
Why is it doing this? is it hardware failure or software problems? i use Recordnow Deluxe and i dont run any programs in the background. i burn at 8x. The thing that sucks is i have a 100pack of these riteks left .
The ones that cause the large dye burns are the ones that have problems copying etc. the others copy fine but they just look horrible. any help would be appreciated . Thanks.![]()

also if i have a disc that isnt the full size of the disk it usually doesnt cause any of these problems..

Dam these pictures are just way to big, either way i never had much luck with ritekg05 discs and my pioner a08xl.

Move your camera back a bit, it's hard to make out what we are looking at no matter how enormous your pics are if they are completely out of focus.

I think it's the Loch Ness monster, best I can tell...
From what I can see, and I can't see much as it is very blurry, it looks like something I've seen on only one kind of media of mine that I can recall - Optodisc. And that's no compliment :P You haven't actually said if the discs are playable, or if you tested the discs for errors, etc. I had an Optodisc with a smudge looking thing on it, but it had no errors, no problems.
edit:Holy shet that was one long sentence, I wonder what caused that... -
NO not smaller, make them go away and focused ones appear
I honestly would like to see the discs clearly, making them smaller won't help that. -
no the memorex all burned fine but when i switched back it appeared when i started burning..ps pics fixed

Yeah, it looks similar to my Optodiscs. Are you CERTAIN that you had no fingerprints on the surface of the disc when you burned them, BTW?
Also, as I asked before, are these discs skipping and have errors on them then? -
the discs are playable in picture three. but the discs in picture one and two you cannot copy because of the dye marks
-
Yep positive...i even clean all of the discs with a air can before i put them in...to make sure theres no dust. etc.

Crap discs, plain and simple. Defective ones. RITEKG04 used to do this too on bad discs.

I agree with smurf, I saw the same flaws on R04s when they started to go bad last Summer. Too bad, the G05s used to be good discs. It appears that the only reliable Riteks left are R03s. That is weird as they used to be the worst of the Ritek media. The last burn I made on my 3500 of R03s at 8X has PI errors in the low 20s and looked like one of the best burns I have had. Who would have ever guessed that would happen?
Still a few bugs in the system... -
I had a RitekG04 i burn ed on a lite on 1213... it did the same thing.. the media sucks.....
