  1. I just got a dvd burner about a month ago and after some really bad Prodiscs I bought some TYG02 Yudens from rima.com in hopes that the skipping and freezing problems I was having would be fixed. Unfortunatly they still exist. I have an OPTORITE DD1205 (dual layer) burner and I have tried burning at 4x and 2x, both producing skipping and freezing (but not every time the disc is played). I'm guessing 8x won't be much better. From how good I heard TYs are, I'm a bit confused as to why I still get problems. My dvd player is a Koss 305. Any suggestions??

Do a CDspeed quality or transfer scan and post the results. This will indicate if the disk is the problem or your player.

  3. Ok, interesting little thing: When I use Nero CD-DVD Speed, the Disc Quality Test only shows PI Errors and not Jitter or PI Failures. Heres the results from the transfer rate test and that disc quality:

That is one weird scan. I have never seen PI to be level an near 2000. Something is wrong with the test. Your transfer looks fine. Don't know what else to try. Do your other disks look like this?

  5. Yep, they all look like that, both the Prodiscs I have and the TYs. I'm new to all this, but I know that the scans arent right

Try the dvd in another player, sounds like your koss doesnt play burned dvds very well,as to the scan your dvd burner isnt supported for quality scan test so you will get weird test results.

  7. With a transfer rate test like that, your player is probably to blame, as johns0 said.

  8. Thanks guys! I'll try another player sometime. But I found an interesting review of my burner and here is a quote from it, "Unfortunately, the DD1205's writing quality could have been better as there were a number of cases where the PI/PIF errors got very high." And this guy was using different media including the TYs that I have. Theres been firmware upgrade since and I'm updated, but I wonder if my burner just falls short in writing quality?? but i really hope it's my cheap-a** koss 305
