Tried to do a search beforehand but .....
I have a 4.8GB mpg file exported from EyeTV software for buring DVD in Toast 6. The file is 0.4 B too large to fit on a 4.4GB DVD disc. What can I do to downsize the file? Many thanks in advance.

Already having an mpeg you might try to trim or edit the file with Streamclip since you'd not have much to remove to make it fit.
Or, you could simply drop the mepg on Toast and "save as disc image." Once that done. mount the image and run the disc through DVD2One or Popcorn to shrink it down to the appropirate size. FFMPEGX has a tool to do this too, and would be the cheapest option, but I've not tried it myself.
Hope this helps.

Another tip is to edit EyeTV recordings before exporting them.
Also see Reduce EyeTV Recording Size to Fit DVD (forum link) for more discussion of that topic, which alph has nicely summarized here. -
Thanks for the replies, guys.
Alph, I did exactly what you have said. Made a disc image with Toast and drag it into Popcorn. It worked seamlessly. Somehow, the image quality of the DVD burned with Popcorn seems sharper..... Is it just me???
