  1. Is it usual to forbid back-to-back timer recording of two programs?

I was having a bit of trouble with my LVW5045 https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1189672#1189672 and sent a detailed reproduction recipe to LiteON technical support. In one of the steps in the reproduction recipe I wrote:
Set a timer recording program to HDD starting at 23:15 and ending at 23:20. Set another one starting at 23:20 and ending at 23:25.
The support responded with this, which I found ridiculous:
you can not have to two timer recording at the same time (23:20). You will need to keep at least 1 minute difference between them. You will need to end your first recording at 23:19 and start the next one at 23:20.
Is the support person clueless, or is this the way many DVD/HDD recorders operate and I am expecting too much? Even my old VCR allowed me to record two programs back to back.

That's just silly. Setting one program's end time to be the same as another's start time is universal.
