  1. I am dealing with video file (mpeg) recorded by surveillance camera and looking for software that can filter frames without motion so that I only need to view the part with activities, can any one help?

    You can try VirtualDubMod, although the video file created will be AVI. If this works for you, be sure to check the Guides for hints, tips, links to plug-ins, etc.

    I don't know of any straight off the bat. I always thought (and have experienced) that this was generally taken care of with your surveillance set-up, so that the cameras are activated to record using motion-detection parameters and discard moments where there is no movement. I guess all the software would need to do is a pixel by pixel comparison of one frame to the next to determine when there's movement, but as I said, I'm not aware of any software that can do this.

    You can do a Google search for 'motion detecting software' and get some links that might give you a few ideas. Most of this type of software is set up to detect motion, then start a recorder, but they may have options for just reviewing videos.

  5. The reason I need this kind of software is because my surveillance camera is connected to a capture card that can only work with it's own software for capturing, the setting is very limited.
    I can only work on the captured video instead of filter out the non motion frames during capturing.
